NU SEDS professors have developed an academic program on mechatronics for Karaganda Technical University

The School of Engineering ans Digital Sciences at Nazarbayev University (NU SEDS) celebrated a milestone achievement on December 5, 2023, marking the successful culmination of the project titled "Kazakhstan: Establishing a Mechatronics Programme at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University" sponsored by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Led by NU SEDS's Professor Tohid Alizadeh, in collaboration with professors Behrouz Maham and Aibek Niyetkaliyev, this initiative aimed to address the skills gap identified by Borusan Cat Kazakhstan in local graduates. Leveraging NU SEDS's expertise and ASKTU's infrastructure, a specialized Mechatronics program was crafted to meet industry demands. Three specialized courses were developed and delivered to three instructors from ASKTU. Additionally, NU SEDS professors provided comprehensive marketing materials and a local outreach plan to help them in recruiting new students to the program.

The event, attended by representatives from NU, EBRD, and Borusan Cat Kazakhstan, highlighted the collaborative success and transformative impact of this initiative.

Professor Tohid Alizadeh's significant contributions extend beyond academia, notably through his renowned YouTube channel (@TohidAlizadeh). Hosting educational tutorials on "PLC programming using CODESYS," his channel has garnered international recognition, benefiting students in NU's robotics and ECE departments and a global audience.

Professor Tohid Alizadeh highlighted, "This project exemplifies the invaluable relationship between academia and industry, setting a precedent for future collaborations, and underscores NU's commitment to experience sharing and industry-aligned education."
