Dr. Sivanand Kumar Nunna, Assistant Professor of the NU School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, passed away on May 15th at the hospital in India.
Dr. Kumar joined Nazarbayev University as a faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) in 2017. He contributed extensively to the development of the Department by teaching and conducting research in power and energy systems. His research publications in the fields of transactive energy, electricity markets, multi-agent systems applications to power systems, and smart distribution systems will ever remain a testimony of his research excellence. In his short tenure at NU, he had become a respected professor to his students, a good friend to his colleagues, and a valued member of the NU community.
Dr. Kumar’s untimely passing away is a deeply shocking great loss to all of us. It is hard to believe that the life of such an energetic and kind young man who was always full of hope and optimism could end so abruptly.
We will remember Dr. Kumar as a great researcher, a brilliant teacher, a wise and discerning mentor. He will always stay in our hearts and minds.
We express our sincere condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and students of Dr. Kumar. Our thoughts and prayers are with them now.
