We are delighted to share the recorded presentation of Zhuldyz Yelzhanova, a PhD student in Electrical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences. Earlier this year, Zhuldyz made history as the first-ever winner of the prestigious Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition at Nazarbayev University.
The 3MT competition, established by the University of Queensland in 2008, is a global platform where researchers from over 900 universities across 85 countries demonstrate their ability to condense years of work into an engaging three-minute presentation.
Zhuldyz’s journey began with the first-ever school-level 3MT competition at the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences during NU SEDS Research Week on April 10, 2024, held in honor of Kazakhstan Scientific Workers Day. Competing for the first time, Zhuldyz won in two categories: he 3MT® Runner-Up and the 3MT® People’s Choice.
Building on her school-level success, Zhuldyz advanced to the university-level 3MT competition, organized for the first time during the NU Annual Research Conference titled "Shaping the Future of Research in Kazakhstan: Working Together for Success", held on September 19–21, 2024. Her outstanding performance at this historic event earned her First Prize.
Additionally, Zeiss recognized her exceptional presentation skills and awarded her a state-of-the-art microscope.
