NU SEDS's EnergyTech Team Clinches Victory in National Student Energy Challenge-2023, Bags $5,000 for Breakthrough Safety Monitoring System

Students at the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences at Nazarbayev University became the winners of the National Student Energy Challenge-2023 competition and received funding of 5,000 USD. This event took place as part of the XV Kazakhstan Energy Week 2023, organized by the KAZENERGY Association from October 3 to 6, 2023, in Astana.

The EnergyTech team, comprised of students from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, includes Gulnur Kulzhanova (4th year, Electrical and Computer Engineering), Ruslan Moldagazyyev, Zangar Ermaganbet, and Ali Almaganbet (1st year, Electrical and Computer Engineering).

In this annual intellectual competition, 'The Student Energy Challenge,' students from technical universities in Kazakhstan compete by presenting projects and innovative ideas for solving energy problems.

The topic of the project is an automated system for monitoring compliance with safety regulations by employees in energy industrial enterprises using computer vision and machine learning.

Students from the EnergyTech team noted that, in case of successful implementation, the project can contribute to improving compliance with safety regulations in industrial enterprises and reduce the number of accidents in our country.
