NU honors international graduates

In June 2024, 54 foreign students graduated from NU.

Since its inception, NU has been proud to celebrate the growing number of international students. By doing so, the institution continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

NU master's programs are in high demand among international students, especially in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. Among all graduate programs, the NU School of Engineering (SEDS) is the most popular among international students. Students choose chemical and materials engineering, electrical and computer engineering, civil and environmental engineering, and petroleum engineering.

A farewell ceremony for foreign graduates was held at NU. This event was a special one where the achievements and contributions of international students were celebrated. The ceremony began with a warm welcome from Arai Saniyazova, Head of International Student Services for the Department of Internationalization, who commended the students' hard work and resilience throughout their academic journey.

University leaders also spoke at the meeting: Kadisha Dairova, vice president for student affairs and international cooperation, and Loretta O'Donnell, vice provost for academic affairs. Foreign students not only bring diversity to the university community, but, for their part, share the values of the university and national culture.

“...Before this, I knew nothing about Kazakhstan and NU. Today I am proud to be part of the university. Each of us stands here today with pride, knowing that we made the right choice. We chose a university that values quality education, innovative thinking and a global perspective. We chose Kazakhstan, and it was an enriching and transformative journey,” Shakir Rakhshinda, a graduate of the educational leadership program from Pakistan, shared her emotions.

For their part, the graduates expressed gratitude for the support received from the university. These heartfelt stories highlighted the importance of an inclusive and supportive academic environment at the university. Since its founding, the university has graduated 160 foreign students.
