The Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan are eligible to The Nazarbayev University educational grant (Government-funded scholarship). The governmental scholarship provides a monthly stipend, basic medical insurance and guaranteed compensation money for travel in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

No need to apply for scholarship separately. All candidates are considered for the scholarship by default.

The international applicants are eligible to “Abay Kunanbayev” scholarship. This scholarship is funded by Nazarbayev University and covers tuition fees, a monthly stipend and basic medical insurance. The scholarship is provided for an entire period of the specified program. Number of scholarships is annually approved by Nazarbayev University.

Both local and international graduate students who study on scholarship receive the monthly stipend:
For Undergraduate students - 48 182 KZT
for Master’s students – 181 250 KZT
for PhD students – 217 500 KZT
Apart from that students may work as Research Assistants and receive additional payment.
PhD students may also work Graduate Teaching Assistants.

Admission to a fee-paying education is available to applicants/candidates who meet all admission requirements, are recommended for admission but due to low ranking didn’t receive any of the scholarships mentioned above. Number of seats for a fee-
paying education is approved annually by the Nazarbayev University depending on the capacity of the Schools.
